If you don't like sappy moments stop reading now.

Hey Guys!
So I love Ashley. I am not sure if you all know that. Anyway, I was feeling really creative and I made a cool video in HD. However, it is to huge to upload without compression, so the quality is somewhat lacking, but give it a watch anyway because it's awesome.

Videos come to D:\Blog

Hey Guys!
I finally took some good advise and joined vimedo.com. This will allow me to upload my own videos! So here is the first one. Ashley and I went with our good friends Tim and Elicia to a roller skating rink. It was pretty neat. I only bailed pretty awfully once and banged my knees up pretty good, but everyone else seemed to do really well. Anyway, here is the vid:

Hope you enjoyed and look forward to more videos to come!

Robots are taking over.

So earlier this month I saw a freeky video over on Corey's Blog about a robot that could self right itself. It's a quadroped robot who can walk on ANYTHING other than water. That include molten lava, people! If you haven't seen the original of this check out the link to Corey's blog first. It is insane. This however is a very worthy spoof of the "beta" version of the same robot. Give it a watch.

Long Time.

Hey Guys!
It has been a very long time since I last posted on the blog. So here I am catching you up on whats been happening.
LAN Parties. Think about that. It is probably one of the most awesome combinations of words in any language. LAN. Parties. So what about them? We've had them. Two of them in fact. Not just any LAN parties though, Xbox 360 LAN parties. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds. The first one occurred at my house and lasted a piddly amount of time (4pm - 2:30am) the second (and more successful) party was at my bestest buddy Corey's house. 9am until midnight. It was EPIC. Rock Band was present during this LAN party and let me just say it one of the most interesting experiences I've had. Mike is probably one of the worst singers I have heard, yet it was somehow amazing to listen too. For footage check out Corey's blog.
Ok, now I leave the lighthearted world of LAN parties and into some serious stuff. Lately my mind has working non-stop about life. More specifically where I am going in it. Right now, I am a training specialist at work, and that is a great job. The people I work with have become my extended family. Being as my wedding is upcoming, I have been thinking a lot about where I am going with my career. Being a trainer is awesome, but it wont pay the bills forever. So my mind comes to rest on what I should do with my life. I have had 2 kicks at college and have not even worked in the field that I trained for. It seems the things I love to do are very difficult to find work in. So I will put this to you guys. What should I be when I grow up. IT Guy? Park Ranger? Stand Up comic? These are just some arbitrary suggestions. I want to seriously know what you guys think.
My mind has not stopped there however. Calgary is a great city don't get me wrong. But I have felt increasingly restless here and find I have a strong will to roam. Now I know this isn't a good time to move, with the wedding and Ash and I's jobs, but I just can't shake the feeling of wanting to move away from Calgary. Ontario, BC and the Maritimes are all places I really would love to move to. I feel bad to say this, but I don't think I will ever truly feel like Calgary is home and is certainly not where I want to start a family. The urge to roam brings me back to the last paragraph. If we move somewhere else, what would we do for work? We both have excellent jobs that are not backed by education. If we moved, would it be career suicide, or would it be the best thing ever?
Bah! It gets me all flustered just blogging about it.
Well how about I end this post with some happy thoughts. Easter long weekend, Ash and I went to Banff for a little R&R. The wedding and work have both proven stressful lately, so we took off for the mountains. The picture here is Ashley at the Cave and Basin historical site. She is gorgeous. We had an absolute blasty blast and it really helped us relax and recharge for the upcoming insanity to come. Well guys, thanks for reading and please comment on my life questions, any point of view is muchly welcome.

New Years bring new stuff...and new pain.

Hey Blog.
Been a while now hasn't it? Well, I've got lots to tell you about.
So 2008 is a pretty significant year in the life of Dave. This is the year I marry my high school sweetheart, Ashley. It is also the year of our kick ass honeymoon to Hawaii. This year will also mark the first year I have ever started with a career. I've got high hopes for 2008.
I must tell you about a movie I've seen to kick off 2008. I went out against my will to see Juno, a movie about a pregnant sixteen year old which starts Ellen Page and Micheal Cera. I was less than stoked to see this movie. The verdict? BEST MOVIE EVER. I was completely shocked and impressed with how well this movie was put together. The duologue in particular was inventive, witty and engaging. Also I must admit I have a small celebrity crush on Ellen Page.
Another cause for celebration is my ride. My Aveo was leaving me so I purchased at 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg 1.8 liter Turbo 5 speed manual. I named it after my favorite movie character; Juno. It is Reflex silver and although I don't have a picture of my Juno uploaded yet, here is a picture of the exact same type of car. It's pretty effin sweet. I love my car.
2008 also brought new pain into my life. A friend of mine named Leslie Lyons passed away at age 26. Her death was sudden and took all who knew her by surprise. Up until this point in my life, I have never lost anyone that was that close to me (knock on wood). Leslie was the first person close to me to die. Even now I am not sure how well I am dealing with it. It still seems so surreal like she isn't dead, just gone somewhere that she will return from. I had a recent dream that she was still here, talking to Ashley and I just like she used to. It still seems like it was all a mistake and that she can't really be gone.
The memorial service was one of the saddest that I have ever been a witness to. Leslie touched so many lives and she was loved by each and every one of them. It seemed she was the glue that held her family together and at the memorial service, her family were devastated to say the least. Everyone was devastated. The sound of crying and sniffling and anguish was everywhere. It was very hard to be present for.
Leslie, you were very special to so many people. More than you probably realized. You are and will continue to be desperately missed. I'm sure where ever you are now is a better place because you're there. Sleep well...

Happy New Year!

Hey Blog!
Just thought I would wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope it is the best year ever. It will be. I have concluded probably the best year of my life so far. I know your next question: "Whats your new years resolution?" Well I don't really have one. I would like to loose weight of course and I would also love to read more this year, but nothing really outstanding. I just want to make everyday a good one and a day worth living for everyone around me, especially my Ashley. So not to much in this post. Just everyone have fun! Don't drink and drive!

Final Fantasy VII Opening. New vs Old. Round 2

Here is the follow up post with the new opening "tech demo". Square Enix has said that they do not plan on re-making the game but if they did, I would suspect to see a few more PS3's being purchased. I know I would buy one. Enjoy.

Final Fantasy VII Opening. New vs Old. Round 1

Hey Blog. Lots of post for the day today. Recently I have renewed my love for Final Fantasy VII as possibly the greatest video game of all time to me. I know it is only on the PSONE system but if you haven't play it please do. It also enjoyed a pc version that looked very well for the time. Torrent it. Anyways, just to make a stir, Square Enix released a ps3 "tech demo" of the opening of FFVII. I have decided to post them to drum up some interest. Enjoy the original opening. The new one will come in the next post
